We were so excited to take Ashley to the beach for her first time! We knew she'd love it and did she ever!
This was our first long car trip (6hours) and we were a little nervous about it because that is a long time for an active 17month old! Ashley had a great time and we had a fabulous 4 day trip! We stayed in a great hotel in LaJolla that was close to all freeways and about 10min from LaJolla beaches as well as some Del Mar beaches! It was a 1bedroom suite so the bedroom and bathroom were seperate from the kitchen and living spaces! This was great now that we have AshB, because we were able to put her down for naps/bedtime and still use the kitchen or TV without disturbing her!
We took her to the beach Friday night after checking into the hotel because it was forecasted to be a wet weekend. So we only spent about an hour at the beach the first night which was just enough for her to get sandy and wet enough!
We got her changed in the trunk at the beach and then met up with Uncle Brian and Grandpa Dale for Pizza! :) Saturday we got up and took her to the beach before it started raining! She played with her new sand toys and had a great time even though it was super windy and really dark/cloudy! We took a variety of swimsuits and swimdiapers but due to the weather, she didn't get to model any of those! :)
We had dinner at Grandpa's this night and also got to visit with Aunt JoAnn! Sunday was a nice and relaxed day because it was pouring down rain! So we drove downtown San Diego and ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory with Grandpa and Uncle Brian one last time before we left! In the afternoon the rain let up, so we hopped in the car and headed down to the Del Mar area. It was not rainy but super windy, so we decided not to take her down to the water and we were very surprised to find an adorable kids park overlooking the beaches! It was fun and she was excited to play, but it was super cold and windy so I again bundled her up and put her Uggs on!
Overall we had a great vacation - wish we would have had better weather, but it was an absolute blast watching her play in the water! She is the best little girl and we are so lucky to have all these amazing memories as a family! :)
